Welcome to the Cognitive Toponymy project! This is a Royal Society of Edinburgh sponsored project using place-names to investigate how people conceptualise place in Western Europe. The project is a collaboration between the Universities of Glasgow, Copenhagen and St. Andrews, and involves participants from a range of academic disciplines. During the course of two years (January 2014 to December 2015), we shall hold three one-day symposia as well as a range of Knowledge Exchange events in different parts of Scotland and Denmark. Abstracts of papers and further details will be available on the website in due course.
Our regular online activites include our facebook page and twitter account, which will be used to publicise and report on the project’s activities. We also have an active mailing list which you can join to ensure you don’t miss out! This website will also provide an important base for the project, with details of the network’s members and an active blog keeping you up to date with the latest news from Cognitive Toponymy.
